Arjen Robben faces a supreme test of his fragile fitness as Bayern Munich look ahead to a tough September programme.

**Source: [*The flying winger, who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, only resumed training last week after suffering a groin strain and is still uncertain for Saturday’s league match against Freiburg.

As a result he was unavailable for his country’s two internationals against San Marino and Finland, which the Dutch won 11-0 and 2-0 to book their place in next summer’s European Championship finals.

Now both club and country are hoping Robben can return rapidly to form as Bayern face Champions League ties against Villarreal and Manchester City, while their Bundesliga opponents include Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen.

“The break during the internationals has been good for Robben, but we have to wait and see if he is ready to play on Saturday,” said his club manager, Christian Nerlinger.

“This series of matches will be a tough test. We can lay the foundations for a successful season.”]**
